Experience

MGZA, Wilmington DE

Ms. Grimmelsman’s career with MGZA began with Wilmington Delaware’s breakthrough project for the AMTRAK Consolidated National Operations Center building, which triggered the city’s riverfront renaissance. Her architectural background combines with her specialty of interior planning, furniture and finishes expertise, and design and project management to provide her with a distinguishing breadth of outlook on her projects. Laurie’s business experience has honed her individualized approach to clients’ specific budgetary needs, schedules and design style.

As head designer for BlackRock Inc. facilities in Delaware, Laurie handled the New York based financial company’s 85,000 square foot regional headquarters building in North Wilmington, DE. Her design became the aesthetic model for BlackRock’s subsequent projects in NY, NY and across the nation. Laurie has designed and managed multiple projects for BlackRock in Philadelphia PA, Princeton NJ, and Wilmington Delaware.

In addition to completing several residential projects, Laurie’s expertise was critical for the conversion of the historic Marion DuPont Scott House into BNY Mellon’s corporate food service facility. A complicated adaptive reuse project, this project was a delicate balance of residential and food service design.

Her work is diverse, reflecting her abilities as both a creative designer and a multi-tasking manager. Additional corporate work included TA Instruments-Waters LLP’s 160,000 sq. ft. headquarters in New Castle, DE. Multiple projects for The University of Delaware’s Newark campus, include the Office of the President, Clayton Hall Conference Center, and multiple lecture hall renovations.
